Sunday, October 19th at 1:00 PM – Central Coast Schools Big Band Sound Off at the Cuesta Performing Arts Center. Confirmed bands participating include the Atascadero High School Jazz Big Band, the SLO High School Jazz Big Band, Cuesta College Jazz Ensemble, Hancock College Jazz Big Band and the Cal Poly University Jazz Band. Admission charge is $5 for adults and free for students with a student ID. We will pass the hat a couple of times during the show to collect donations for the bands. 100% of the donations will be split evenly between the participating bands. Sunday, October 19th at 4:00 PM – Jazz Vespers Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church in San Luis Obispo featuring The Bruce Forman – Ron McCarley Duo. Bruce Forman is widely regarded as one of the top jazz guitarists in the world and Ron McCarley is the Director of Jazz Studies at Cuesta College where he teaches jazz improvisation and music theory. There is no cover charge but donations are encouraged to pay the band. The church is located at 981 Marsh Street (at Morro Street).

Friday, October 24th – The SLO County Jazz Federation presents a jazz concert featuring The Idiomatiques at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in San Luis Obispo. The Idiomatiques are a modern Gypsy Jazz quartet inspired by Django Reinhardt, with original compositions like their hit “C’est La Vie” which spent 11 weeks in the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Top 30. The band features Craig Sharmat and Ray Bergstrom on guitar, Kim Collins on bass, and Frank Petrilli on accordion. The show starts at 7:30 PM (doors at 7:00 PM). Sunday, October 26th – Charlie and Sandi Shoemake, at Talsan Music, have another offering in their regular Jazz Concert series in Cambria. This one features an outstanding pianist from L.A named Christian Jacob, a world renowned pianist and composer (he did two film scores for Clint Eastwood). Jacob will be performing solo as well as in duets with Sandi and Charlie. 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Woodlands Concert Hall, 715 Main Street in Cambria. $35 per person. Saturday, October 25th – The Basin Street Regulars have reserved the Clark Center for a luxurious evening show featuring The Midiri Brothers as the opening band, followed by a performance of the Black Market Trust. Sunday, October 26th – The Basin Street Regulars will host a dance at the Pismo Beach Veterans Building. Doors open at 11:00 am and the show runs from Noon to 4:00 pm.
